Mai Simson – associate conductor

Mai Simson studied choral conducting in Heino Elleri Tartu Music College and graduated in 2013, (her teacher was Karin Herne) and she is currently studying the same speciality in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in professor Tõnu Kaljuste`s conducting class (docent Veronika Portsmuth was her previous teacher). While  studying choral conducting, Mai Simson graduated from University of Tartu, majoring in mathematics. Since 2011 Mai has been working as a conductor or associate conductor of several choirs, such as The Mixed Choir of  Tartu City Museum, mixed choir 6 Õuna in Palamuse, Girls`choir of Jõgeva Secondary School and The Engineers` Male Choir. Mai worked as a music teacher at Jõgeva Secondary School between 2013–2015. She has been a conductor of  female chamber choir Miina and The Girls`Choir of Jõgevamaa Gymnasium and also the second conductor of The Mixed Choir of the European Capital of Culture since 2016.  Mai Simson has been a member of board of Estonian Mixed Choirs`Association since 2015 and she is also one of the members of the organising committee of The National Vocal Groups` Competition dedicated to Alo Mattisen. She has been the second conductor of Estonian Youth Mixed Choir since autumn of 2016. Mai Simson will be conducting girls`choirs at Estonian Youth Song and Dance Celebration in 2017.
